Accreditation Workshops
FQS has a range of modular workshop options covering preparation
for accreditation, offered as a three-day standard package provided
from our site in Tampa, FL, or you can chose the options you want
for delivery at your site. All modules focus on aspects of ISO/IEC
17025 accreditation in general and are not specific to any
accreditation body.
- Introduction to ISO Accreditation: What ISO
is, where standards come from, relevance of standards to forensic
labs, what's involved in accreditation, supplemental requirements,
and management system hierarchy.
- Review of ISO/IEC 17025: Structure of the
standard and discussion of clauses.
- Principles of Internal Laboratory Auditing:
Instruction on planning and conducting an internal audit, reporting
findings, and managing corrective actions, with scenario-based
individual and group exercises.
- Practical Auditing: Successful completion of
"Principles of Internal Laboratory Auditing" or equivalent is
required. Plan and conduct an audit of one or more activity,
reporting, and corrective action (must be conducted at a laboratory
site). Planning, conducting, and reporting of the audit is mentored
by the instructors. Instruction on how to manage corrective action
follows, and at least one nonconformity identified in the audit is
selected for root cause analysis. Instruction focuses on the
underlying principles and techniques. No advice is given on whether
actual situations found are or are not non-conformities, or on
actual identification of root cause and implementation of
corrective actions.
- Corrective Action: Guide to corrective action
management with a focus on root cause analysis and
evaluations.
- Uncertainty of Measurement: Requirements of
ISO/IEC 17025 for uncertainty of measurement. When/where and how to
estimate uncertainty - direct measurement, uncertainty budget, and
professional judgment issues.
Registration includes instruction, workshop materials, copy of
ILAC Guide 19, and refreshments. If six registrations are not
received by deadline, workshop is subject to cancellation. Please
check before purchasing your airfare.
(All state and local public crime laboratories received a free
copy of the standard, which is available for purchase from ANSI.)
